Tryshell “Chef T” Robertson

From an early age, Chef T was surrounded by the love of cultivating savory southern favorites by her two grandmothers. Raised in New Orleans “The Big Easy”, Chef T was constantly learning new dishes every weekend from her grandmothers who enjoyed cooking and bringing the family together. One of her fondest childhood memories and her first cooking experiences was learning to make Ooey Gooey cake, a New Orleans desert favorite.

Although, cooking with her grandmothers was her favorite memory, her least favorite memories were the struggles of being raised by a single mother. She is the youngest of two and her farther was often away in the military. This brought on many challenges for her, including challenges in school. When Chef T was a child, she suffered with a learning disorder which held her back in school compared to her classmates. Due to this, she became very rebellious and aggressive. Her saving grace was those weekends she spent learning new dishes with her grandmothers.

Moving into adulthood, the adversities grew for Chef T, this also pulled her off her path of what she loved and was passionate about, cooking delicious meals. Her mother often had to work to provide, so Chef T was often left to raise herself. At the age of 16, Chef T was a victim of sexual assault by many family members and ran away from home. Chef T became homeless until she was 18.

As life got harder, she began to lose her way. After reconnecting with her now wife Raven, she was pushed to work hard for her goals and reminded often that she is a winner. At the age of 23, Chef T began to turn her life around and focus on learning her self-worth and self-love within. This lead her to thinking back to her childhood and what she enjoyed most.

As she began looking for ways to plan her future, a close friend of hers mentioned a free program at Nunez Community College, focused on learning the necessary skills to become a successful chef. This was also her sign to pursue her career in culinary arts.

Once enrolled, she immediately she received praise and recognition from her professors in the classroom for her natural abilities to learn and perfect culinary skills so quickly. The school was exactly what she needed and fulfilled her passion.

In 2017, Chef T started Creole Queens. Creole Queensprovides catering for private events and cooking classesfor all ages. After her business grew and became more successful, Chef T sought out a new challenge.

In 2018, Chef T was selected as a participating chef on the cooking series “The Great Food Truck,” which was televised on the Food Network Program. Chef T and her team were able to spread the love of creole food as they traveled through the New England region.

Today, Chef T, her wife, and her puppy Nola live in Katy, Texas. In addition, she is working on a cookbook with her most popular requested dishes for her clients and friends. She is a huge foodie who enjoys trying new restaurants in her community. She also enjoys cooking for friends and family and teaching cooking lessons of her amazing dishes.
